What are the coverage options for a Lyft accident?

There are a few different coverage options for a Lyft accident when the Lyft driver is at fault. The coverage depends on what the Lyft driver is doing at that time. If the Lyft driver is not working or their app is off, their own personal policy will cover any damages.

If the app is on but the driver does not have a passenger in the vehicle, Lyft will only cover liability at $50,000 per person for bodily injury, capped at $100,000 per accident, with $25,000 for property damage per accident.

If the Lyft driver has the app on and a ride has been requested or they are transporting a passenger, coverage is much higher. Lyft will cover up to $1 million in liability, with $1 million in uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage. There is also collision coverage for drivers.
