Dog Bite Statistics
According to Dogbite.org (a non-profit that tracks dog (particularly pit bull) violence):
- 31 people died of injuries from dog bites in 2016.
- Pit bulls and Rottweilers accounted for 77% of dog bite deaths in 2016.
- California led the nation in number of fatal dog attacks in 2016.
According to the American Veterinary Medical Association:
- More than 4.7 million dog bites occur annually
- 60% of all dog bite victims are children
